Students at Lift Unity City celebrate outstanding GCSE and BTEC achievements
Young people in Middlesbrough achieve highly in this year’s results
Vincent Humphery-Elile. 9 in English Language, 8 and 7 in Combined Science.

Students and staff at Lift Unity City, part of Lift Schools, are celebrating this week as they collect their GCSE and BTEC results. Students have shown resilience and determination in studying and taking their exams which they sat in May and June and the school has gone above and beyond to make sure that students were as prepared as possible for these important exams.
This year’s cohort students were in their last year at primary school when schools were locked down, and faced a very different start to their secondary education, at the start of the pandemic.
Lift Unity City put in place a whole range of additional support, including group and one-to-one additional intervention sessions held before school, during the school day, after school and at weekends; ‘fish & tips’ revision sessions for students and parents; free revision resources for all students; motivational speakers and rewards incentives for students.
Booster club, sprint weeks and online tutoring was also given to students. This extra support paid off with many students achieving the grades required to go onto sixth form, for A levels, BTECs and further vocational study.
