‍Students at Lift Unity City celebrate outstanding GCSE and BTEC achievements

Young people in Middlesbrough achieve highly in this year’s results

Vincent Humphery-Elile. 9 in English Language, 8 and 7 in Combined Science.

Angel Almond. 8 in Maths, 7 in English Language.

Bobby Salt. 8 in History, 7s in English Language and English Literature.

Kane Bingham. 7s in Science, Maths, English Language.

Ellie-May Russell. 7s in English Language, English Literature and Geography.

Meredith Theasby. 8s in Maths and Biology.

Students and staff at Lift Unity City, part of Lift Schools, are celebrating this week as they collect their GCSE and BTEC results. Students have shown resilience and determination in studying and taking their exams which they sat in May and June and the school has gone above and beyond to make sure that students were as prepared as possible for these important exams.

‍

This year’s cohort students were in their last year at primary school when schools were locked down, and faced a very different start to their secondary education, at the start of the pandemic.

‍

Lift Unity City put in place a whole range of additional support, including group and one-to-one additional intervention sessions held before school, during the school day, after school and at weekends; ‘fish & tips’ revision sessions for students and parents; free revision resources for all students; motivational speakers and rewards incentives for students.

‍

Booster club, sprint weeks and online tutoring was also given to students. This extra support paid off with many students achieving the grades required to go onto sixth form, for A levels, BTECs and further vocational study.

Lift Unity City congratulates all of their students, with some of the high performers achieving:

Vincent Humphery-Elile achieved a grade 9 in English Language, 5 in English Literature, 8 and 7 in Combined Science and a grade 6 in History. Vincent also achieved a 5 in Art and a merit in Enterprise and ICT. Vincent is studying A Levels at Middlesbrough College.
Angel Almond achieved a grade 8 in Maths, 7 in English Language and 6 in English Literature. Angel also achieved a 5 in French and grade 6s in History, Physics, Biology and Chemistry. Angel is going to Middlesbrough College to study A Levels.
Bobby Salt achieved grade 7s in English Language and Literature and a grade 8 in History. Bobby secured grade 6s in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Maths. Bobby also achieved a merit in Drama. Bobby is going to Middlesbrough College to study A Levels.
Kane Bingham secured grade 7s in Science, Maths and English Language. Kane achieved a 6 in History, 5 in English Literature and a 5 in Photography. Kane also secured a merit in Drama. Kane is going on to study BTEC qualifications at Middlesbrough College.
Ellie-May Russell achieved grade 7s in English Language, English Literature and Geography. Ellie secured distinctions in both Dance and Sport and grade 6s in Maths and Science. Ellie-May is going to Middlesbrough College to study A Levels.
Meredith Theasby secured grade 8s in Maths and Biology. In History and Chemistry, she achieved grade 7s. Meredith also achieved grade 6s in Physics, Biology, English Language and English Literature.
